My normal reads tend to lean toward the traditional/cozy feel within the mystery genre. But once in a while, I do try something different to avoid being trapped in a rut; and this next review was certainly out of the usual pattern for me. Although, I am glad to admit, that I was highly delighted with the storyline and I sincerely hope that the author's second installment in this series will be released here shortly! Follow along on a “wicked” ride with two kids trying to find their missing brother, Trevor. After witnessing him being grabbed from their front porch, Monica and Dare must find a lady, Vectra Tillerman, that Monica has only seen in a dream. The two kids go in search of this strange woman and find her at an antique market-of-sorts, being held in a small town in Pennsylvania. What they don't realize is that this is just the beginning to an incredible adventure filled with lots of distinctive characters.
Throughout various trials that test their abilities to handle different challenges being tossed their way, the siblings quickly learn about the mysterious Vectra's unique powers, as well as her numerous strengths, weaknesses, and familial baggage. But can the kids truly rely on her to actually help them retrieve their brother back…alive? For she appears to know more about their missing parents than she's willing to tell.
Like I stated before, Written Wings is the first in a series that will have readers begging for more. While an interest in steampunk and greek mythology would be an added plus for this book, it's definitely not needed to enjoy the adventure! This series promises to be filled with mystery, action, and good old-fashioned fun for those looking for a pleasurable new read!
